Meet our youth leaders! Left to Right - Sarah Bruton; Mary Rogers; Youth Coordinator, Bernadette Striggles; Anja Heath; Deanna Heath. During our Sunday services, your children will find a safe, loving space to meet, feel comfortable and learn the Principles of Unity from a qualified and trained staff of volunteers. Our teachers enjoy and understand children’s needs and are constantly trained to give your child the best experience possible. Our “Unikid” Leaders would love to invite your children (and you) to join our family of youth classes on Sunday mornings.
Our mission is to call forth The Christ within each child entrusted to us. We guide each child to recognize their oneness with God while accepting and demonstrating the principles taught by Jesus Christ. Children are taught Unity Principles with lessons that include spiritual, creative and social activities. They experience the importance of God in their lives and how much God always loves them.
We provide a nursery for infants and children through age 5, 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Our lessons are for ages 6 through 12. Our current curriculum is Celebrating My God-Self and will extend through the remainder of this year. Through the use of Bible stories and practical life application of these stories, children are able to travel their own spiritual paths. In addition to the Bible, the use of virtues (the goodness of God’s traits that are within each of us) is emphasized in each class. Ages above 12 are welcome to celebrate with us in the Sanctuary.
Unity’s Five Basic Principles for Children
- God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
- I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me and in everyone.
- I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.
- Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
- I do and give my best by living the truth I know. I make a difference.
Resources for Parents
Program Overview: Unity Family Matters on unity.fm
Good parenting doesn’t happen by default. It is intentional. It is a decision about who you will be and what you will do in your family life. Your hosts Rev. Jennifer and Ogun Holder want you to experience the “light” side of parenting — realizing your divine identity while raising your children to know they are “the light of God.” Every week we offer insight based upon Unity principles, talk with today’s prominent experts in spiritual parenting, and address your questions and comments from spiritual perspectives.
Call out the Children, by Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity
Our mission is not to entertain the children, but to call them out. To be always entertained is to be dwarfed and dependent. To be “called out” is to follow the harmonious law of the soul’s unfoldment. Who meddles with the rosebud? What fingers are deft enough to pry open that marvel of folded beauty? We are wise enough to leave it alone to follow the glad law of its own unfolding, but our children! Have we dealt as wisely with these buds of marvelous possibilities? Have we always remembered that they, too, must quicken and unfold through the innate law of their own genius?
